Committee on Candidates, Licentiates, and Interns
The Committee on Candidates, Licentiates and Interns interviews, admits, and oversees all candidates, licentiates and interns in the Presbytery. All those desiring to become a Candidate (come under care), Licentiat or Intern must meet with and be approved by this committee.
A Candidate for the ministry is a male member of the Church in full communion who, believing himself to be called to preach the gospel, submits himself to the care and guidance of Presbytery in his course of study and of practical training to prepare himself for this office. Every applicant for the ministry must put himself under the care of the Presbytery.
A Licentiate is man (minister in the PCA, ruling elder, candidate, minister from another denomination, or some other man) who is specially licensed by the Presbytery to preach within the Presbytery on a regular basis.
An Intern is a man who, in preparation for ordination, submits himself to Presbytery for a period trial that the Church may form a better judgment respecfting the gifts of those to whom this sacred office is to be committed.
One may become a Candidate, be Licensed to preach and begin his internship at the same meeting of Presbytery.
